You can remove a white ring from a table top pretty easily.

Most white spots or rings on table tops and other furniture are caused by moisture in the finish. A cold drink will condense and have moisture on the outside of a glass. The moisture will run down the glass and settle on the surface the glass is sitting on and after a while some of the moisture will soak into the finish causing a white ring.

Glaze Effects Glazing is the application of color over a pre-sealed or non porous surface. Most often associated with paint, ceramics or marble to add interest to an otherwise un-interesting surface.

Warm or hot bowl

An even worse culprit is a warm or hot bowl or other container set directly on a table top finish. The heated bowl will inject any moisture available, even out of the air, into the table top finish causing a white spot.
