Stain Your Newly Veneered Kitchen Cabinets

Here comes the P word, polyurethane. If you've been around our site much you'll see that I'm not much in favor of polyurethane as a furniture finish, but kitchen cabinets are fair game.

Generally kitchen cabinets are finished or painted on the inside so they're not open as much to the constant humidity changes in a kitchen as pieces of furniture are.

The method I mentioned earlier for making a smooth finish is called sanding sealer, available at the previous link. You apply the sanding sealer after the stain dries and it will seal the stain and then you can sand the sanding sealer with a fine grit sandpaper until it's as smooth as glass, then apply the finish.
