We're sorry, but the links to home brewing equipment have had to be suspended. Here is the rest of it though.

Home brew beer making has been a tradition since the first ancient person discovered they could induce the hiccups and giggles by letting different substances sit and ferment then drinking them. I imagine that the very first person, before such instances were recorded, was very bewildered at the feeling he had.

Used wisely, home beer brewing can be calming and can make a nice relaxing beverage. Used unwisely it can be a very dangerous substance.

Home Brew In A Crock

home_brew_crock

Along with the tradition of home beer brewing the beer was traditionally brewed in a crock, then siphoned from the crock into beer bottles. In lots of cases the siphoning became a time of high spirits. Naturally as the elixir was started to siphon with each new beer bottle it took a little additional sucking on the hose to be sure the home brew beer got started through the hose ok, 'accidentally' getting an extra mouthful with each new bottle started.

A Caution

Don't try this at home.

Back in my high school days in the middle of the last century, one of my classmates, a farmers son, dug a hole on the edge of one of his dad's fields and covered it with dirt and weeds so it couldn't be seen, then set up his home brewery and started beer making in earnest. Everything went well until his dad went through the top of the brewery with a tractor wheel. The rest is a long story, but the brew master did manage to survive the ordeal, although his beer brewing enterprise was severely curtailed, and is in the process of living to a ripe old age.
